Create a Named Endowment Fund
Leave a lasting mark. We'll help you decide how, when, and who your endowment fund supports – making your philanthropic vision a reality.
Your Legacy, Your Way
Creating a named endowment fund with Kura Tāwhiti – Canterbury Community Foundation is one of the most powerful ways to express your values and create lasting change in our community.
Whether you want to support rangatahi education, protect our environment, strengthen the arts, or back emerging community needs, a named fund allows you to shape the future of Waitaha and beyond, forever.
Why Create a Named Endowment Fund?
It's personal
Your fund carries your name, your whānau's name, or honours someone important to you. It becomes a permanent part of our community's story.
You're in control
You decide what causes your fund supports, whether that's a specific kaupapa, a particular organisation, or an area of need that evolves over time. We work with you to ensure your vision is crystal clear and honoured in perpetuity.
It grows over time
Your gift is professionally invested and protected. The capital remains intact whilst income generated each year is distributed to the causes you've chosen. Your generosity compounds, making a bigger difference year after year.
Local focus, lasting impact
Every dollar stays in the Christchurch, Selwyn, and Waimakariri districts. Your fund addresses real needs in our community – not just today, but for generations to come.
Simplified giving
Rather than managing grants yourself or juggling Trustees, Accountants and Lawyers, we handle the administration, due diligence, and distribution. You get to focus on the joy of giving.
Accessible to all
You don't need enormous wealth to create a named fund. Many people start with modest amounts and add to their fund over time, or through their estate. After all, philanthropy is not just for those with great means, it's for those who mean to do great.
How it works:
1. Let's talk
Contact our Chief Executive Lynne Umbers on 021 279 9722 or lynne.umbers@kuratawhiticcf.org.nz.
We'll discuss your goals, your values, and what you'd like your fund to achieve.
2. Design your fund
Together, we'll determine:
-
The name of your fund
-
The causes or organisations you want to support
-
Your preferred level of involvement in making grant decisions
3. Make your gift
You can establish your fund with a one-time donation, regular contributions, or through your estate. Many people do a combination of all three.
4. Watch your impact grow
Each year, we'll report back on the grants made from your fund and the difference they're making. Your values live on, creating positive change across our region.
Ready to Create Your Legacy?

There's no pressure and no obligation – just a conversation about what's possible.
